More Traveling

I wrote this many years ago, after a spring break trip from Texas to Orange Beach and back….

We were fortunate enough to spend Spring Break in Orange Beach, Alabama. Here are some vacation observations based on my own opinion only. You can’t get mad at me for opinions ๐Ÿ™‚.

1. The speed limit in Louisiana should be 127 mph. A., Louisiana is a sink hole and nobody should have to stay there longer than necessary, and B., that’s what speed everybody is driving anyway. (Sorry, Debby Mullins, I would be willing to make an exception for Shreveport and Monroe. They aren’t so bad.)

2. Mississippi has the best roads on the planet.

3. Alabama folks are the nicest ever. We got the impression that if we’d asked them to chew our food for us, they would’ve agreed. Seriously, EVERYBODY was nice.

4. We saw some people from Nebraska. They were not nice. Or smart. (Again, just opinions, folks, hold the bricks with hateful messages.)

5. Beaumont should be part of Louisiana. I would like to make a motion that we trade Beaumont for reserved Texas parking in the Shreveport Bass Pro parking lot, plus maybe a special discount card or something.

6. If you take my child to a condo with a pool and cable tv, he will be happy. We could’ve been in Chernobyl and he wouldn’t have minded, as long as the cable was clear and the pool was heated.

7. After 13 years of marriage, there’s nobody I’d rather travel with than my husband. His incredible sense of direction and my willingness to drive long past the point of clinical insanity means we are UNSTOPPABLE!

8. After driving from Alabama to Silsbee, Texas, some people (ok, ME)) become extremely offended when other drivers approach and I have to dim my lights. After the second time I shrieked, “Why can’t anybody just STAY HOME???” Cary began to hug the door and look for soft spots on the shoulder in case he had to exit the car fighter pilot style. Thank goodness we have a sun roof.

9. Even at 85 mph, Evie the Camry still gets 39.6 mph.
